The following is an email I sent to an Ex on the subject:

"It is a shame you did not know to take advantage of the opportunity to see me this weekend (if you would have said yes, I would have canceled any other plan).  You know, the people that supposedly have ‘luck’ are no different than the rest of us, but they know how to recognize and take advantage of opportunities when they are presented.  Perhaps I will return to give you another opportunity and perhaps not, that is the risk that one always takes when one does not take advantage of the opportunities presented.  Hopefully, the ‘new’ you can do the work to manage to have better ‘luck’.  Good luck."
