Independence Day 2012
“The greatest glory in living lies not in never failing, but in rising every time we fail. ” — Nelson Mandela
Santos Champion Clausura 2012: Contrary to my prediction, Santos Laguna, my favorite Mexican soccer team, lost a controversial final with an aggregate score of 4-1 in favor of Tigres, a Monterrey team. In the 2012 CONCACAF champions league final, Santos lost once again to a Monterrey team who managed an aggregate score of 3-2. In the Clausura 2012 season, Santos finally came out champions, defeating Tigres dramatically in the semi-finals with two last minute goals, and defeating Monterrey in the finals by a winning aggregate score of 3–2. As they say, the best revenge is success! Go SANTOS!
Spilled Milk: As an on again and off again victim and witness to victims of the current healthcare system, I was glad to see that the Affordable Care Act was upheld. I just wish all the crybabies would stop crying over spilled milk and move on to the job of actually creating jobs in the US of A and not elsewhere. For me, the focus on jobs should include public sector jobs and not just private sector. I am tired of public sector employees being cast as villains for getting better retirement benefits in exchange for lower paying jobs while overpaid executive fat cats laugh all the way to the bank. As for the recent healthcare judgment, I applaud the Supreme Court for making the right call.
Passing Grades: My return visit to the doctor showed improvement and the insulin shots are now a regular part of my routine. The boys also were successful in getting the right grades to move on to the next grade in the upcoming school year. Our goal this year is also for my wife to pass her driver’s exam. Go team Contreras!
